“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,” Isaiah 61:1 NIV
The State of Maryland is excited to announce, Proclaim Week from October 25th- October 29th. Every day all BCF-affiliated schools are proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to all who will hear. With Isaiah 61:1-4 as our guiding post, we believe the Spirit of the Lord is upon us and appointed us to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent us to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of jo instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. We will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. We will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; we will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.
During Proclaim Week each school is sharing the gospel in dynamic ways, through “Word on the Street” a time of interviewing students about who they believe God is and what the good news is, allowing conversation about Jesus Christ effortlessly, interview style. “Prayer Walks” and “Prayer at the Poll” is a time of college students praying all over their campus and high school students gather the student body at the pole to pray for the school. “Marvelous Encounter/Alumni Night” is a dynamic bible study led by Alumni of the university with the goal in mind of leading students to Christ through the sharing of the authentic gospel of Jesus Christ. And more!
